Summer Shade

I’m walking through the summer haze,
my head is hot, now rest it says.
I need some shade to sit and laze,
to spend these scorching summer days.

I’m passing by a willow tree,
sitting next to it’s trunk I see,
how tender leaves droop over me,
in summer shade so perfectly.

Just like the coolest everglade,
the filtered glow as sun does fade,
I see how perfectly it’s made,
how lovely looks my summer shade.

A butterfly comes with colours bright,
a blackbird comes to rest from flight,
the stream reflects the stary light,
my summer shade has turned to night.

The way to my soft bed I made,
my summer day the moon betrayed,
the pale light does now invade,
I’m dreaming of my summer shade.

Love Is…

Love is a warm and gentle touch,
I need you near so very much.
On my face it’s the summer sun,
I want your kisses, every one.

Love in my eyes – the stars at night,
spread your blanket beneath their sight.
Love in my soul – a saving grace,
set your sweet smile upon my face.

Love is a flower in the spring,
upon my step your footsteps ring.
Love eternal, until we die,
come stay with me, we’ll float on high.

Whisky and Spudly # 3

June, July

On the 9th of July we had thunder, lightening and a hail storm. Whisky and Spudly went outside on the deck to check out the hail. The hail had frozen together to form ice. Whisky didn’t mind it but poor Spudly kept falling over.

Whisky and Spudly inspected the garden after the hail had gone. They are sad because the raspberry bush has been damaged by the hail. They will check it again in the Spring to see if it grows its leaves again.

Whisky and Spudly are happy to see that the broccoli is OK after the storm.

Whisky and Spudly have climbed to the top of the broccoli plant, they say it looks healthy and ready to eat, yum yum. Whisky likes the cat (Lucy) who has come to investigate  and enjoys the view. Spudly is smiling but is scared of Lucy and wishes he had stayed inside.

Whisky and Spudly have gone to see Mini the rabbit. Spudly doesn’t like being this close. Whisky says “Silly Spudly, Mini can’t get to us…I hope.”

“I don’t like the sound of that, lets go inside and see what Michael and George are up to, it will be safer in there,” Spudly says and quickly hops toward the deck.

Whisky and Spudly like the foam blocks.

“Thank you Michael and George for playing with us,”

they say together.

The Ghost

The gentle breeze,
blows past my knees
and urges me to go.
It says don’t stay
but run away,
to some safe place I know.

Ghostly hands touch
and therefore such,
is the company I keep.
Should be in bed,
somewhere instead,
my eyes they dared to peep.

She came one night,
like pale moonlight,
breaching my chamber door.
The bolt still locked,
my head half cocked
my racing heart was sore.

Closer she came,
her dress like flame
but on her face a smile.
What did she plan,
for this poor man?
Sure not to talk a while?

Resigned to fate,
the hour late
and in the air a chill.
Was I a game?
Some nameless name?
And her with time to kill.

Her icy gaze
could last for days,
no weapon need she draw.
She could soon rest,
hand on my chest,
then I would be no more.

The air was thin,
came drifting in,
the noise of my cats wail.
Would I float high,
remembered by,
some old unopened mail.

Now here she stood
and run I should,
somehow I had to stare.
To my surprise,
she had kind eyes
and long white flowing hair.

Most people die,
when I stand by,”
rang out her soothing voice.
Let your heart calm,
I mean no harm
but you must make a choice.”

Sigh of relief
and disbelief,
she died by some foul deed.
To be a friend
or justice mend,
from earthly life she’s freed.

Then soon I fell,
under her spell,
with her I was awestruck.
Heaven or hell,
may come as well,
perhaps just rotten luck.

By night she came,
through window frame,
that faced the great north wood.
The trees they groaned,
with snow the moaned,
as if they understood.

How I am vexed
and more perplexed,
at my predicament.
Can’t call a friend,
at my wits end,
why ever was she sent?

How will I last?
I’ve fallen fast,
I judge that she’s the same.
Sometimes to stay,
or go away,
to some place I can’t name.

She knows my mind
but still is kind
and wont give up just yet.
Now in the end,
she is my friend
and not some spooky pet.

The snow did melt
and trees they felt,
the warming breath of Spring.
As flowers grow,
more ghosts I know
and stories that they bring.

I could have run,
toward the sun,
on some warm foreign shore.
Would not have met
and never set,
eyes on one I adore.

The trees now leaved,
dancing and heaved,
under the strong west gale.
Drifting through wood,
together stood,
the ghost and I both pale.

Poem – Jenny’s Coin

There’s no particular reason for this poem in case you were wondering!

Jenny’s Coin

Once was Jenny,
dropped a penny,
down in the stinking loo.
She peered in,
a puzzled grin,
whatever would she do.

***

Was never flushed,
the smell it gushed,
and filled the room with gas.
Poor Jenny screamed,
and tears streamed,
her precious coin gone – alas.

***

Would mother dear,
understand fear,
that she most certain felt.
And would she know,
the rancid flow,
and things that it could melt.

***

Her courage plucked,
but it just sucked,
body starts to tremble.
Pulled up her sleeve,
began to heave,
at what it did resemble.

***

She took a stab,
and made a grab,
she fished her hand around.
How she did moan,
she’d found a bone,
near fainted on the ground.

***

Her coin by fluke,
another puke,
her stomach was now reeling.
The coin aloft,
the smell did waft,
’twas the grandest feeling.

***

She meant to twist,
but somehow missed,
she’d slipped upon a turd.
Jenny was dank,
and now she stank,
was feeling quite absurd.

***

The walls they dripped,
the paint was stripped,
she wished that she had ran.
The coin flew high,
into the sky,
right back where it began.

***

Japan Earthquake

Japan 11-3-11

Japan Earthquake – 11th March 2011

I feel a lump swell in my throat,
what’s this broadcast we’re receiving.
Never seen such pain and loss,
I feel a country grieving.

***

We saw their lives disappear,
thousands of people, we all wept.
Lovely towns and farmland gone,
we saw by the sea were swept.

***

First was the quake, than a flood,
then came the snow like a curse.
In all the earth was found none
but God alone could make it worse.

***

Souls now gone and left this life,
drift into the atmosphere.
We can not go where they reside,
souls that now are far from here.

I was named after my great uncle Roger who was a fighter pilot in the war but that’s the only special thing about my name. What about you, were you named after someone special in your family or was your name chosen just because your parents liked it? Cross Talk

Cross Talk

Bible and cross

Holy Bible, what do you think?

Those of you who think the Bible is full of: hallelujahs, amems, thou shalt nots, lists of rules to follow and boring prayers check out these verses. (These verses are from the New King James version).

Genesis 19:32 “Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve the lineage of our father.”

Exodus 8:6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt. 7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

Exodus 9:10 Then they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses scattered them toward heaven. And they caused boils that break out in sores on man and beast.11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

Numbers 13:33 “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Numbers 22:29 And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!” 30 So the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you?” And he said, “No.”

Joshua 10:13 So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day.

Judges 1:6 Then Adoni-Bezek fled, and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

Judges 4:21 Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Job 41:19 Out of his mouth go burning lights; Sparks of fire shoot out. 20 Smoke goes out of his nostrils, As from a boiling pot and burning rushes. 21 His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes out of his mouth.

The following verses talk about our sin and becoming a Christian. I have tried to explain some of them.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

(What this means is that we have all done wrong. From the Queen and the Pope to the homeless people in the streets we are all the same.)

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Acts 10:43  To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believein Him will receive remission of sins.”

(Becoming a Christian is easy, you don’t have to pay any money, perform any strange rituals or be blessed by bearded priests wearing long robes and carrying huge bibles. You just have to realize that you have sinned and believe that the Lord Jesus died on the cross for you and rose to life again – the Easter story).

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

It’s important to realize that becoming a Christian will not make anybody perfect and unable to do any wrong but it’s definitely the best and most amazing thing you will ever do.

If you would like to know more about the Bible please leave a message below.

What’s in a Name

Whisky and Spudly #2

May

Whisky and Spudly like our silverbeet, if it rains they can hide under the leaves.

Whisky and Spudly have climbed our little orange tree to look at its first two oranges.

Whisky and Spudly are being silly in the lemon tree, Spudly is trying to hide.

Whisky and spudly are checking the carrot and red beet seeds that are starting to grow. They can’t see any spinach or onion growing yet and want to help get rid or the weeds and dead leaves from the grape vine. Thank you Whisky and Spudly

Osama Bin Laden

Ode to Osama

Osama's bin laid to rest
next to Davey Joneses chest.
A place where no mourners come,
not a funeral dirge nor drum.

Breathed his last in Palestine,
fate had set the hook and line.
Fish will strip your flesh from bone,
not a graveside tear or moan.

You were a talking point at best,
with Mephistopheles you rest.
From earths toil you've been freed,
death has had it's gruesome feed.

One too many devils raised,
enemies not gone but crazed.
Your life finally found its ebb,
like debris from a spider web.

At one time or another.

This is just a list of things I have done either as part of the jobs I have done or while on holiday somewhere.

Job stuff.

Telecommunications, alarm installation technician, RF technician, instrumentation, electrical service technician, receptionist, cleaner, system diagnostics, industrial maintenance, lawn mowing, grounds man, draftsman, plastering, store man, kitchen hand, factory worker (heavy industrial), biomedical technician, electrical safety lecturer, website design.

Other stuff.

Theatrical, includes the following; stage acting, script writing, poetry, stage hand, puppetry, half and full mask development and use, clowning, directing, mime, buffon, theater sports, stilts, street theatre.

Roller skating, ice skating, snow and water skiing, running abseiling, rock climbing, flying trapeze, archery, windsurfing, snorkeling, knee-boarding, white and black water rafting, soccer, badminton, swimming, bungee jumping, parachuting, shooting, tramping, camping, canoeing, bicycle repair, sailing, snow tobogganing, life saving instructor, book writing and publishing, hapkido, power kiting, stand up paddle boarding, kite landboarding

Travel

I have traveled to the following countries and on the way seen and done some interesting stuff:

Australia.

In March 2017. Michelle and I traveled from Melbourne up to Sydney by car then to the Gold Coast and back to Sydney, I will include the website here at some stage.

Traveled to Sydney where I saw: the Opera House, Taronga zoo, double-decker trains, the Sydney harbor bridge, cousins and beaches.

Melbourne where I saw more cousins, some funny art stuff and trams.

Canberra where I saw the houses of parliament and more cousins.

Fiji.

What did I do in Fiji, well just relaxed in the sun mainly. I have been to Fiji 3 times now and love it. I saw tropical fish, coral reefs. One time I saw a sea snake coming towards me so I kept really still and it brushed past my arm and kept going. If it had bitten me I would have had two hours to live, but our boat was two hours out from the closest main Island. Angela and I went to Fiji fro our honeymoon with our daughter who was one at the time. We went to a traditional Fijian village.

New Caledonia.

I stayed at Club Med where I did the following: flying trapeze, snorkeling, rock climbing, windsurfing, archery and lazing in the sun.

Canada.

Vancouver, where I  saw/did:  cousins, the aquarium, Christmas lights, underground shopping, sky train, ice skating, huge supermarkets, shopping malls, squirrels, Capilino suspension bridge and skiing.

Edmonton, where I saw/did:  lots of cousins, ice skating, operated the penalty box at an ice hockey game, West Edmonton Mall and skiing.

Grand Prairie, stayed with cousins.

Hong Kong.

Went on the underground trains, went shopping, did a harbor cruise.

India.

Saw:  lots of poor people and slums, camels, elephants, cows walking down main streets, people going toilet where ever they wanted,  a funeral pyre by the river, buzzards, the Taj Mahal. Traveled by train across India, went on an elephant ride to a temple. Ate lots of curry. Got sick twice. Had to buy water to drink!

Kenya.

Saw: lots of poor people and slums again. In general, the poor people of Kenya are a lot more friendly than India. Traveled in matatus, had to buy drinking water, went to the Masai Mara, went into the outback and stayed near a village where the ladies had to walk for an hour every day to get water for everyone, got our 4WD  stuck in a  small river and two days later the river had dried up, saw a cactus bigger than a house, lizards, lions, leopards, huge elephants, a rhinoceros  with its baby, giraffes, gazelles, lots of zebras, hippo’s, visited a tribe where the children had never seen a white person before, visited lots of people living in mud huts, went to a mud hut church, crossed the equator, haggled in marketplaces.

Tanzania

It is most likely that while in the Masai Mara we traveled into the Serengeti in Tanzania which is why this is included.

England

I stayed in central London and enjoyed looking at some of the tourist attractions like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the London Dungeon. I found the underground really easy to get around on. While there we traveled to the city of Bath and I went to visit my Uncle Mike and Auntie Jean who lived in Wythham Village near Oxford.

USA -Miami

We just stopped for a day and went shopping here.

Ecuador.

The capital ( Quito ) is about 10,000 feet above sea level and you can feel quite dizzy when you land especially if you try and do any exercise as I found out. Went to the monument on the equator and played hacky-sack across the equator, haggled in market places, survived the Shell road, held a boa constrictor, worked on a building site, stayed with an Ecuadorian family, stayed a night with a tribe in the Amazon Jungle, saw leaf cutter ants and lots of other interesting bugs.
